President Trump endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the final week of the Republican Senate runoff, delivering a blow to Sen. John Cornyn’s campaign.

•⁠ ⁠Trump had reportedly considered backing Cornyn and even had a draft endorsement prepared, but ultimately sided with Paxton, a longtime ally backed by the MAGA base.

•⁠ ⁠Cornyn had aggressively sought Trump’s support, including introducing legislation to rename Interstate 47 in Trump’s honor, but Trump said Cornyn “was not supportive of me when times were tough.”
