War of Attrition on the Northern Border: Hezbollah Changes Strategy

In recent days, Israeli defense officials have identified a clear shift in Hezbollah’s operational strategy, as the terror organization moves toward a war of attrition against Israel.

While three IDF divisions continue ground operations in southern Lebanon, Hezbollah has altered its attack patterns in an effort to conserve its capabilities over time.

According to security assessments, Hezbollah is launching smaller barrages while increasing the pace of attacks and spreading launches across a broader area. Rather than carrying out concentrated strikes, Hezbollah is dispersing UAV, explosive drone, and rocket fire over extended periods, creating an almost continuous stream of alerts aimed at exhausting both the civilian population and IDF forces.

IDF officials stressed that the shift is intentional. Although Hezbollah retains the capability to launch much larger barrages, it is deliberately holding back at this stage in order to preserve operational readiness and sustain a prolonged campaign.

Meanwhile, as tensions increase between the US and Iran, Israeli defense officials assess that any escalation in the war with Tehran could lead to an expansion of the fighting in Lebanon and the removal of constraints on the intensity of operations by both sides.
