Brig. Gen. Yisrael Shomer, head of the IDF Operations Division, has requested immediate retirement from the military due to what the army described as “personal circumstances.”

The move comes amid reports that Shomer is under investigation for alleged misconduct and was questioned by Military Police. The IDF has not commented on the allegations, but Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir approved Shomer’s immediate retirement.
