Rebbetzin Feinstein Cared. Do you? Making a Difference Through Education. The Rebbetzin Shelia Feinstein Memorial Campaign.
An educator all her life, Rebbetzin Shelia cared strongly for the continuity of the Jewish nation. Her formative years were spent in the lower east side at a time when the Jewish nation was hemorrhaging, losing members to the allure of the American dream. As a member of the first class in the Bais Yaakov of the Lower East Side, young Shelia realized the only way to ensure the endurance of Yiddishkeit is through education. Her impact is well known, her influence widely felt, her loss truly mourned. One of the causes close to her heart, for this very reason, was Kollel Hora’ah of America. The mission statement of the Kollel is to provide the next generation with effective leaders. To this end the Kollel trains promising young men in the fine art of leadership, educating them how best to pass on their Torah knowledge and pasken shailos. But a leader is so much more. A leader is an educator, life coach, public speaker, advocate, and PR officer all rolled into one. To accomplish that goal, the Kollel has retained the services of renown experts in various fields to teach the Yungeleit the essentials of these varied disciplines.
KHA was a tremendous source of pride to the Rebbetzin and she took an active role in all aspects. She gave of her time and made phone calls on the Kollels behalf and was involved in the details of the curriculum planning. It was clear that the Rebbetzen viewed the Kollel as a continuation of her life’s mission; the continuity and education of klal yisroel.
With the untimely passing of the Rebbetzin, and with the blessings of her renown husband, Harav Reuven Feinstein Shlit”a, who is the rabbinical advisor of KHA, it was decided that a fitting memorial to such a woman would be the firm establishment of this cause she held dear.
