Infuse Your Year With Purpose and Direction

A good business has goals. A great business has a mission statement and a plan. Not just one plan, but a business plan, marketing plan, a professional development plan, site maintenance plans and of course plans for when to make more plans. Having plans helps a business keep focused on reaching its goals successfully, leading to satisfaction and happiness of the staff involved.

What about a personal plan? If you ask the next person you see about their life goals, you will likely get a quick response such as: happiness, wealth, job success, or having a family. But continue to ask, “How do you plan on reaching those goals?”  and the answers are likely to be vague. What about yourself? Do you have goals and a life plan for personal growth, fulfillment and success?

Shlomo Abrams needed a plan. While he was used to listening to many shiurim or lectures that offered personal inspiration, he felt that he needed more guidance in his life to attain the level of personal growth he was seeking. Abrams signed up for Rabbi Aryeh Nivin’s Personal Growth Chabura; a group of people gathering via audio teleconference and webinar for guidance on how to develop their own personal mission statement and plan for life.

“It’s like the difference between just going to the gym or using a personal trainer to help reach your fitness goals,” said Abrams who started attending the weekly chabura over 10 years ago. While he doesn’t attend weekly any longer, he does still attend an occasional chabura to keep himself on track or to learn additional techniques to help others attain their goals as well.

Rosh HaShana, the New Year is a time of renewal and hope. Elul, the preceding month, is often filled with nervousness of the impending high holidays but it can be the perfect time to find your personal mission statement and to create a year-long plan for success. Rabbi Nivin’s program helped Abrams and many others to identify their challenges and desires and to narrow down their life focus so that every moment of every day can be used for that purpose.

Shlomo’s wife, Hudy, has participated in the chabura as well, and regardless of what else they have going on, as a couple, every Elul they work on their plan for the year and every successive month they are able to look back at their plan and see what progress they have made.

Rabbi Nivin, who holds separate chaburas for men and women, has helped many people reach their potential and forge successful careers and organizations. Together with the support of the workshop participants, a mentor and a personal “chavrusa” – a partner to act as a sounding board and to keep each other on track – you can achieve your goals, whatever your goals may be.

Three hundred people attend the weekly chabura and over 4500 people have participated throughout the years, including one woman who credits the guidance she received in helping her find her husband. Other’s have enhanced their relationships in their roles as spouses, parents and children.

Rabbi Nivin offers the chance for men and women to join his chabura each year in the month of Elul so that they can make their “plan” for the year for just $1. The month consists of four classes, group support, and the Rosh HaShana drasha.

This is a chance to be a Fortune 500 type person, without making a large investment. The choice is then available to continue with the chabura for a modest fee.

Get inspired to live your ideal life with vitality and transcendence and go into the New Year with focus and ready to reach your goals.
