Finland marked the 100th anniversary of the Helsinki synagogue. Sunday�s celebration, led by the Jewish community, was attended by Finland’s President Tarja Halonen, Finland’s Parliament speaker Paavo Lipponen and the Israel tourism minister, Isaac Herzog. The Shul is the seat of the capital�s some 1,200 Jews; about 600 more Jews live outside of Helsinki.
