In the short time since its inception, Mekimi of Lakewood (affectionately known as the “Cheer-Up Squad”) has garnered a sterling reputation as the unique chesed organization that uplifts and brings joy to local cholim through music, entertainment and cheer.

Additionally, Mekimi’s “Kosher CD & DVD” lending library has proven to be a literal lifesaver for cholim, enabling them to stay occupied and forget about their suffering and pain.

To continue maintaining their high standards and implement official protocol for this rapidly growing organization, Mekimi hosted its inaugural member conference. The conference took place this past Thursday night at Rabbi Gornish’s shul on Sunset Road and over 45 Mekimi volunteers were in attendance.

Divrei bracha was given by Mekimi’s founder who stressed the importance of Mekimi’s valuable work and bentched the attendees with hatzlocha and success.

Addressing the members was guest speaker, Rabbi Sruli Fried, director of Chai Lifeline of Lakewood. Rabbi Fried, in his capacity as Chai Lifeline director and licensed social worker, offered the Mekimi volunteers practical advice and real-world experience in dealing with cholim and their families.

The conference ended with a heartfelt tefilas maariv and all the members left with feelings of chizuk and inspiration as they set upon their worthy goals of cheering up Lakewood’s cholim through this unique organization…Mekimi of Lakewood!

To schedule a Mekimi visit, arrange use of the “Kosher CD/DVD library and for more information, call Mekimi of Lakewood at 848-525-1917.
