A P’sak was issued by Maran Hagoen Rav Eliyashiv Shlita that people should be Mikayem the Mitzvas Matonos Levyonim this year in Yerushalyim through a well known G’MACH in run by Rav Cooperman Shlita. The money will be distributed on Purim day.
To have your chance in being Mekayim Mitzvas Maatanos Levyonim through this important G’MACH call 877-VAAD-HAR (877-822-3427) or can be given over to Roshei Yeshivos or Rabbonim throughout the USA.

A meeting was recently held where it was announced that the Vaad Harabanim Leinyonei Tzedaka would add 40 new Rabbanim to the Vaad.
These Rabbanim are from the many smaller cities scattered throughout Eretz Yisroel.
The Vaad Harabanim is of the largest tzedakah organization in Eretz Yisroel, and is unique in that the Rabbanim are directly involved in raising and the distribution of funds.
By adding these additional Rabbanim, the Vaad will be better able to provide assistance to the many suffering families in the many smaller cities in Eretz Yisroel.
With the addition of these rabbanim, the Vaad will be better
able to assist, and the rabbonim of those cities will be able to liaison and represent their communities.

Do you mean to say that Rav Eliyashiv paskened that people SHOULD do this, rather than the many other evyonim or organizations? I find that hard to believe. Perhaps he said that one can, or even that it’s a great way to, be mekayeim the Mitzvah?
