Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva HaGaon HaRav Yeruchim Olson was among the many guests who attended the wedding of Mendel Rubashkin of Postville/Monsey and Mushka Weinstein of Crown Heights on Sunday night. The Chasunah took place at Oholei Torah Hall in Crown Heights.

Why is this news? And for that matter, why is Rubashkin such a gadol that R’ Yeruchum Olshin and Moishe Bender are dancing at his chasunas?

1) who said he is a gadol? What does a gadol even mean?
2) he is someone who brought about the highest amount of achdus in decades. He is someone who after getting sentenced, and you can argue about his deeds, but once he was sentenced, made a MASSIVE kidush Hashem by the way he acted.
3) and theain answer, which you wrote yourself, Reb Yeruchem is dancing by his Chasuna, is that not enough for you to see his worthiness, for you???
The celebration of someone who did commit a serious crime is unfortunately a large chillul hashem and reflects very badly on the Orthodox community.

Be thankful……we’ve gone several seeks with no SMR story or video. A year ago, it was like there was going to be a new 24×7 cable network dedicated to coverage of “welcome home Sholom Mordechai” celebrations at every beis medrash and sinmcha hall in all of the U.S., UK and EY. Mazel tov to the choson and may he and his wife be zoche to live a quiet and peaceful life away from this obcessive media coverage. May he also get good financial and legal advice for any business venture he pursues.
