Spain regrets expulsion of Jews

Spain on Thursday inaugurated a culture institute honoring the Sephardic Jews and said it was settling a debt dating back to their expulsion during the Spanish Inquisition.

“Today is a historic day for the Jewish communities, Israel and Spain. With this act we settle a very old debt with Sepharad,” said Spain’s Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos. The ceremony was attended by ambassadors from around the world and Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

  1. Now here’s an apology that cannot be accepted. I’ll leave you guys to figure out the difference between today’s and yesterday’s.

  2. Why does this settle an accout? I consider this an unsettelled debt. They will pay for the forced conversion, expulsion, burning at the stake, and untold suffering. Just becuse you want to open a museam and sell tickets and generate tourist revenue, does not mean a debt is settled.

  3. Ofcourse its a tourist ploy. On the other hand, would NO dedication at all
suit us better? I dont think anybody can ever forgive the Nazi brutality but that doesnt mean that the survivors will refuse the reparation money. LET THEM ALL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO ‘REPAY’ US. Monitarily or otherwise.

I am not sure that many Jewish tourists will visit that institute.

  4. Nothing has changed since 1492. Spain is a leader in anti-Semitic incidents. Notwithstanding the Madrid bombings, they still coddle to the Arabs.

  6. SHAME ON SPAIN
Two weeks ago, while the rest of Europe marked the UN-established International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27, a small town in Spain — Ciempozuelos, a Madrid suburb — opted instead to replace that day with the ‘Day of Palestinian Genocide’.
    Thanks for apology anyway.
