HaPeles Assault Suspect’s Remand Extended Again

The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday afternoon 13 Teves 5773 extended the remand of Bnei Brak resident C.A. by 48 hours. This is the second extension of his incarceration since being taken into custody. The suspect is one of three believed involved in last week’s assault against the editor-in-chief of the HaPeles newspaper, Nati Grossman.

The assault is believed to be the result of the split in the Litvish Degel Hatorah faction of Agudas Yisrael, which resulted in the so-called Yerushalmi faction launching the Netzach Party and running independently in the upcoming general elections. The Bnei Brak faction views the head of its Moetzas Gedolei Torah being HaGaon HaRav Aaron  Leib Shteinman Shlita while the Yerushalmi faction regards its Gadol to be HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita.
