The New York State Police in Schodack New York are investigating the death of off-duty New York State Trooper, Kerstin S. Williams. The incident occurred in the area of Nassau Lake in the Town of Nassau, Rensselaer County on June 29, 2014.
Trooper Kerstin S. Williams, 27, was assigned to Troop F, SP Liberty and resided in the Town of Nassau. She was an 18-month veteran of the New York State Police.
The investigation at the scene showed no signs of foul play, and an autopsy on June 30 revealed Williams’ cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation revealed the weapon used in the incident was Willams’ Division-issued firearm.
