8 additional Israelis and 2 Nepalis were injured, with wounds described as “light.”

The group was aided by the Israeli Magnus rescue organization and local Chabad Rabbi Cheski Lipschitz. They have been airlifted to a hospital in Kathmandu for treatment.

Police said the investigation into the incident is underway, and added that a search is on for the driver, Mangal Bahadur BK (24) of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-4 in Lamjung district, who fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The jeep was carrying total 12 passengers and the driver when the incident occurred, said police. The jeep was heading towards Manang from Besisahar in the Lamjung district.

The Annapurna mountain range is a popular hiking spot for international tourists, including many Israelis, though is no stranger to tragic accidents.
