Yishuv Amichai Gets Final Approval

Yishuv Amichai, the new home of the uprooted Amona, was finally approved Wednesday by the High Planning Council of the Civil Administration. For nearly a year since they were evacuated from their homes, where they lived for about two decades, the Amona residents will be able to start packing up in hopes of leaving the Midrasha (high school) dorms in Ofra.

Within the framework of the HEPC meeting, 102 units were approved for construction, following a stubborn struggle by the headquarters of the struggle for Amona, which demanded that the government ministers quickly promote the establishment of their settlement as promised.

Avichai Boaron, chairman of Amona’s campaign for the struggle, said he was pleased with the decision and said it was a formative one. “The decision that was taken today to establish Amichai is a historic moment, no less. After decades, in which no settlement has been established in Yehuda and Shomron, the state is returning to the Zionist ethos by deciding to establish a new settlement in Yehuda and Shomron”

“This is a significant change in direction of the State of Israel that is happening as a result of the principled struggle of the Amona people and joins the achievement of the Regulation Law.

He concluded, “We expect the State of Israel, the government and its leader to act with all their might so that we can leave as soon as possible from the rooms of the dormitory and will immediately enter the houses of the new settlement of Amichai,” he said.
