It was a night of violent confrontations between mispallalim and security forces at the Sanhedria Beis HaChaim on Wednesday. The cause of the tensions is the decision to lock the beis hachaim down at 8 PM, making it impossible to reach the kever of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L.

Yassam police dispatched to the scene were quick to resort to violence to clear Bar Illan Junction and move away the growing crowd of mispallalim and supporters from the busy Yerushalayim intersection.

The Yassam troops acted without discrimination, pushing anyone that exhibit a chareidi appearance, in this case, including Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) correspondent Yair Shariki, who was beaten by the police.

According to a Walla News report based on an eyewitness, Shariki was interviewing a woman when police approached him, ordering him to move. He refused and requested that the Yassam policeman identify himself. The response was a swift kick to Shariki’s lower extremities, from which he fell to the ground. At that point other officers surrounded him and the Yassam cops were generous with their use of batons as they began beating him on the ground. They were about to place him in a police car until a female arrived, telling police she is his sister. They decided to make do with leaving he bruised correspondent on the ground.

Six chareidim who were taken into custody at the protest are being remanded on Thursday.

  1. For the sake of accuracy, this Beis Hachaim has always closed at 8 PM. For security, the neighborhood does not want this to become a hang-out and a nightly gathering spot.

If the family of Chacham Yosef wanted a place to access 24/7, this was NOT the correct choice for burial. A country deserves to have laws and regulations and a way to uphold them.

  2. These are not mispallim. They are thugs, hoodlums and layabouts using children as human shields and Maran’s kever as an excuse to erupt in violence. YWN posted the video yesterday. An AMERICAN boy saying that they came to “burn stuff.” Based on the photos, that’s exactly what they did! If they want to daven by the kever come when it’s open. This is private land. In the two articles posted, there’s no mention of what they want or their basis for asking.

If they’re so good at starting fights and taking on soldiers, let them enlist in the IDF and defend their brethren sitting in the beis midrash, like the Bnei Torah these hoodlums claim to be.

  3. no #2 zion flag these ideas you mention can display checkist fascist and stazi like tendencies

the ends do not justify the means

just because you do not like whats going on does not mean a armed government has a right to oppress at will and abuse and maim its citizenry SHAME ON YOU!

this is never a way to uphold a law
