Victim of Toeiva ‘Pride Parade’ Stabbing Attack Dies of Her Injuries

20150730173112 (1)16:54 IL: Officials at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital announced that Shira Banki, who was gravely wounded in the stabbing attack at the Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem last week, has succumbed to her injuries.

Yishai Schlisel, who is a mentally deranged individual identified with the chareidi community is in custody for that attack. He was released from prison about three weeks ago after serving a 10-year sentence for attempted murder in another Gay Pride Parade. At that time, he was deemed mentally capable of standing trial for his actions. Last week he was remanded for 12 days by a Jerusalem court as the investigation against him continues. He told the court he does not want an attorney since he does not recognize the authority of a court that is not run in line with halacha.

The other five victims of the stabbing attack are recuperating from their non-life-threatening injuries.

  1. I seriously doubt his rebbe or Rosh Yeshiva told him to knife people. Any hareidi who doesn’t listen to the rebbi ro Rosh Yeshiva, is clearly mentally deranged.

Using violence to get one’s way is a zionist tradition (that is how they took over Eretz Yisrael from the goyim), not a hareidi tradition. And isn’t it the goal of the zionists to get hareidi to spend less time learning and davening, and to learn to use weapons of violence to resolve their problems????

  2. YWN: please stand firm and refer to the parade that took place by its correct name from a Torah perspective as you are a web site that claims a Torah ethos. It was a Toieva parade. There is nothing to proud of in being a pervert or supporting perverts. Please do not use the word pride in connection with this event.

  3. This guy is a murderer, and that is all he is. He killed an innocent teenage girl and deserves to be in prison for the rest of his life. I’m ashamed to be associated with him as a Jew

  4. To: #8 Step Aside

What is the point of your post on this thread? Do you give support to the stabbing because they were marching in Yerushalayim as opposed to any other Israeli city, where this murder could also have happened? I am just curious why you didn’t condemn the murder while you expressed your opinion.

  5. To #4 avreimi

I am also curious why you posted about the name of the parade but did not take the time to express outrage over this murder, or even just condemn it.

  6. akuperma: really? When you have someone who claims to be “Chareidi” and does something that everyone views as a sin he must be just like the “Zionists”? Wasn’t the Beis Hamikdosh destroyed for making baseless statements that can only have negative impact without anything positive coming out of tehm?

  7. Step aside- you disgust me for your inability to have any rachmanus and for clearly missing the whole message of this horrible tragedy. This shlissel animal deserves the worst. Baruch Dayan emes

  8. eric55: I will explain to you why he is not like Pinchas. The Rambam in Issurei Biah Perek 12 gives the limits of Kannaim Pogin Bo. It’s for Boel Aramis (and only Boel Aramis, not any other forbidden relationship), in public, and only then actually B’sha’as Ma’aseh. This was none of those things. That’s why he’s not like Pinchas.

Also, though it’s not necessary at all to prove this point, the Chazon Ish thinks there is no Hetter or Kanaim Pogin Bo nowadays because he thought that was only Shayach at a time when there was immediate and lethal collective punishment for these things, thus Zimri was a Rodef because he was causing the plague. There is no immediate and apparent punishment nowadays, and thus no Hetter.

  9. akuperma: “Any hareidi who doesn’t listen to the rebbi ro Rosh Yeshiva, is clearly mentally deranged.”

Do you mean this generally, or only in cases where a rebbi or rosh yeshiva tell someone not to kill others? If you mean specifically about killing, that is a weird thing to say, since the mental derangement involved in killing here has nothing to do w/ listening or not to a rebbi/ry. If you mean this generally, and your rebbi or rosh yeshiva says it’s not ok to use the internet, does that mean you are mentally deranged?

  10. Akuperma, if you don’t see the difference between bearing arms for a hierarchical legitimate Defense Force, and randomly stabbing people you don’t agree with, you need serious help.

  11. Shira Banki a 16 year old girl has died from the stabbing. Without getting into her lifestyle a lesbian relationship is NOT a toeyva. She was murdered on the week our Holy Torah commands not to murder.

I am just tired of hearing about toayvas. Yes the Torah calls the sin a toeyva. But the Torah does not make a judgement regarding the people who engage in the sin. Only a Sanhedrin can put them to death. It has already been said in this forum correctly that this was certainly not a maaseh Pinchas. This was the act of s sick individual. I hope he gets the help he needs

  12. Zimri and Cozbi committed the averiah in public in front of the Ohel Moed and therefore Pinchas was allowed to be a Zealot. No such asveriah occured here

  13. In my Shul, we just read the 6th commandment as recently as yesterday:- “Lo Tirtzach”, so this fellow has violated 1 of the 10 commandments.

  14. 15 RichardM:
Yes, two women together is ossur d’oraisa, because of bal t’shaktzu. The Rambam brings this down as well. It is of course not the same level of stringency as two men, which the Torah calls “toeivah”, an abomination.
