Swedish PA Resident in Custody for Working with Hizbullah


arrest2A Swedish national who lives in a PA (Palestinian Authority) autonomous area has been taken into custody on suspicion of passing classified information to Hizbullah. The suspect, Hassan Hizran, 55, was indicted on Sunday, 24 Menachem Avi on a number of counts including contacting an enemy agent. Hassan Hizran was taken into custody at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Tuesday, 5 Menachem Av as he was entering the county.

The indictment state Hizran joined Hizbullah in 2009, providing the terrorist army with intelligence information and recruiting new personnel among the Israeli Arab population with social ties to Jewish Israeli citizens as well as IDF and government officials. Hizran did not do this but he did allegedly provide information that could harm Israel including IDF troop placements and data pertaining to military bases. The suspect also held numerous meetings with handlers in Beirut but it is reported despite pressure from handlers, who did not increase the social network to connect with military and government officials as pressured to do.

In 2009 he was paid $2,300 and an additional $800 in 2011. Included in the information allegedly given to Hizbullah handlers were info pertaining to Ben-Gurion International Airport and security checks conducted at that location.

During interrogation Hizan provided security agents with information about a Shiite group called “The Lebanese House” that operates in Malmö, Sweden. ISA officials released a statement that the tasks assigned to Hizan are proof Hizbullah is preparing for the next military conflict with Israel, a war that includes a growing bank of Israeli targets.
