Members of Knesset Interior Committee Visit Har HaZeisim

hhaUnder heavy police guard, members of the Knesset Interior Committee on Sunday, 24 Menachem Av, visited Har HaZeisim for a firsthand look at the security situation there. Despite numerous meetings with senior Israel Police and other officials, the attacks against Jews visiting kevarim at the site continue and today, most people will not have a loved one interred in Har HaZeisim, fearing they will not be able to visit the kever without being attacked.

Also take part in the visit was Housing Minister (Kulanu) Yoav Galant, Minister of Absorption (Likud) Ze’ev Elkin and Deputy Jerusalem Police Chief Avshalom Peled. Peled cited the number of attacks has dropped dramatically.

The visit began with a police officer explaining if the protected bus is targeted with rocks or anything else, not to respond and leave the response to police on the scene. Committee Chairman (Likud) David Amsellem explained to the press the situation is intolerable as attacks continue. “I am embarrassed” stated Amsellem, who cited the absurd situation demanding jeeps to escort a bus, both in front of and behind the vehicle, adding “Soon we will need a helicopter also”.

Police explain that all too often the attackers are minors, too young to prosecute so their parents are brought in. Amid statements from Peled, MK Uri Maklev asked to see statistics showing a decline in attacks, explaining “the public has the opposite feeling”. MK (Bayit Yehudi) Betzalel Smotrich also expressed criticism over the situation.

Minister Elkin explained the problem begins with education in the Arab sector, explaining the small children who attack visitors learn this in their schools and an entire generation has been education in the Arab sector to act as they do.

Maklev stated “This is not like conquering the Beaufort, stating the attacks can stop if and when the decision is made to do what must be done”.

  1. I think this is what the “right wing settlers” should make their project instead of being chayiv Koreis by walking on the Temple Mount. Har HaZaisim is in a Stretegic LOcation and is not properly protected.

  2. Amsellem is %100 right.

Can you just imagine if similar attacks & vandalism would take place at Har Hertzel??? It would end for good in mere moments. The athiest chilonim don’t give a darn about some Charedie graves.
And even some of unzera don’t care because its not the “Heimisha” section. If these attacks happened by Rav Eliyashuv ZT”L kever, there would be riots in the streets of Yerushalayim followed by death threats! There is more protection for Yiddisha kvorim in Europe by Goyim who hate us, MORE THAN FELLOW YIDDEN in Yerushalayim Ir Hakodesh! This is a National DISGRACE by the pacifists in Israel!

  3. 2 & 3

You are off the wall! What does it mean make it their project?? There are plenty of DL leaders & Rabbonim buried there plus some chasuva warriors who died על קידוש השם for the Jewish country.

Are u at all aware of the situation & location of Har Hazassim? There is a large kehiila of DL FAMILIES WHO LIVE in that area to lessen the infiltration of the savages plus Yeshiva Oros is a presence there.

How times have the CHAREDI MKs in the Knesset brought up the subject of Har Hazassim? Har Herzl is located on the boundary of Bayit Vegan across from the Share Zedek hospital & NOT surrounded by Arab villages & population. Could that be a major difference!!!!!
