Israeli Arab Heading to Join ISIS in Syria Was Arrested at the Airport


terrorA gag order has been lifted permitted the publication of the arrest of Khamis Idnan Salamah on July 28, 2015 at Ben-Gurion International Airport. The 20-year-old Ramle resident and engineering student was heading to Syria to join ISIS. He is a student at Kinneret College.

In fact, Salamah left Israel for Turkey after contacting an ISIS commander via Twitter, who instructed him to cross into Syria from Turkey. He was taken into custody in Turkey, detained for a number of days and then extradited back to Israel. He was taken into custody upon return to the Tel Aviv airport.
