Report: 5 Arab Administrative Prisoners Launch a Hunger Strike


prisonIsrael Prison Authority officials on Monday, 16 Elul report that five Arab administrative prisoners in Ketziot Prison have launched a hunger strike to protest their incarceration. The Arab media reports that five members of the Islamic Jihad imprisoned in Israel have been hunger-striking for 11 days but prison authority officials insist they only began their hunger strike on Sunday, 15 Elul.

Two weeks ago the High Court of Justice suspended the administrative detention of Muhmad Alaan, who was hunger-striking for over two months and was near death. Alaan is also a member of Islamic Jihad. When he regained consciousness in Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon he refused nourishment, explaining he will hunger strike until the death unless he is released unconditionally.

  1. Good job Israel let a criminal free because he refuses to eat . Maybe if you start letting them starve themselves to death they’ll stop this craziness. And if you keep letting them free I want to meet the idiots in jail that DIDNT go on a hunger strike
