Stabbing Attack in Netanya [UPDATED 6:20PM IL]

17:59: Preliminary report of a stabbing attack in Netanya with a number of injured. Emergency agencies responding. More to follow.

18:05: There are conflicting reports if the stabbing is criminal or terror in nature. Police are confirming the attacker was shot and neutralized by a policeman at the scene. The attack according to the Sharon District police spokesman occurred on Techakmuni Street. One person appears in serious condition.

Zaka is reporting the incident is terror, not criminal. More to follow.

18:09: MDA reports the call for a stabbing came in at 17:51. The location is Binyamin Blvd. at the intersection of Techakmuni. A 70-year-old male is in serious condition with stab wounds to his upper torso. He is being transported to Laniado Hospital in the city.

18:18: Zaka updates that despite earlier report to the contrary, the terrorist is still alive, albeit critically wounded by police gunfire.

18:20: Ichud Hatzalah reports its responders provided initial care for the elderly man who was seriously wounded in the attack. He was stabbed in his upper torso. He was transported in a MDA paramedic ICU unit to Laniado Hospital in Netanya. He was conscious when he was taken from the scene. Ichud adds that his wife was crossing the street with him and B’chasdei Hashem she was not physically wounded but is being treated for hysteria.

    She was not treated for hysteria, she was treated for shock. Or emotional trauma, if you must. Not hysteria. Doesn’t sound like a big difference but there is. Seriously.
