Yesh Atid Once Again Pushing Its ‘Share The Burden’ Agenda; Wants Everyone Drafted Into IDF

The Yesh Atid opposition party is once again submitting a version of its “Share the Burden” Bill to the Knesset Law Committee, which would see to draft Bnei Torah to the army R”L. This was the law backed by party leader MK Yair Lapid in the previous Knesset, when he was a cabinet minister, enjoying the support of Bayit Yehudi leader Minister Naftali Bennet.

A Yesh Atid statement reads, “Binyamin Netanyahu cannot continue to evade and squirm. Everyone must enlist in the IDF, not only the suckers who have no party in the coalition. We were all suckers. The High Court of Justice ruled that there are no first-class and second-class citizens in Israel.”

“A real national government puts the IDF into the top of the list, and our soldiers are more important than political survival.”

As for the Chareidi proposed new draft law, in which the state recognizes Torah study as a “basic value,” Lapid’s party says: “If we want to talk about basic values - what about the basic value of defending the homeland? What about the basic value that says a political party cannot arrange for an exemption from fundamental obligations only to its voters? ”

“There is no such thing as a law without enforcement, and there are such sacred values … What Netanyahu does is not only betraying the values of Zionism and the values of the IDF, it is betrayal of the values of the nation.”

“The struggle for the equality of the burden is a struggle for the image of Israeli society, which is at stake – the abolition of the model of the people’s army and mobilization for all, a struggle for the cornerstones of Israeli society. This is not a struggle against the chareidim, and the law is not against the chareidim, on the contrary, it is a struggle for and for the image of Israeli society, a struggle for the Haredim and their integration into society, rights and duties”.

  1. What a bunch of huey!
The IDF is run by the anti-religious, and often anti-Israel left which is a small minority in this country and they want everyone into the IDF to indoctrinate them in their fantastical view of the world.
