The Haifa District Court on Wednesday sentenced a 20-year-old drug addict found guilty of setting a sukka on fire and destroying seforim. The court decided that the horrific attack was not racially motivated, but due to the sad reality that the defendant, Tamir Ben-Shimon, is addicted to recreational narcotics.
The sukka that was targeted was located near a Haifa shul. In addition, seforim were set ablaze and destroyed, and satanic graffiti was painted on the shul.
The court sentenced the defendant to 3.5 years in prison.
