More on Haifa Mall Terror Attack

mishtara4.jpgIsrael Police northern district commander, Shimon Koren, told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Sunday that the investigation into the failed Haifa mall attack on motzei Shabbos continues.

The police commander stated earlier reports were erroneous, and the Subaru used in the attack is not from Jerusalem, confirming reports that it was however stolen. The commander added the mall security failed in its responsibility to detect the explosives in the trunk of the vehicle, stating that while the parking lot is outdoors, it serves the mall and is under the total security responsibility of the mall operator.

The mall remained closed the entire night, with police adding the last remnants of the bombs found in the trunk of the vehicle were only removed during the predawn hours. The reopening of the mall on Sunday was accompanied by a message from police that the entire district is operating on heightened security.

The senior commander added there were no specific intelligence reports pointing to a planned attack against the Cinemall.
