Three siblings from a Druze family in Israel underwent gastric bypass surgery on the same day last week at Poriya Hospital near Teveria, according to a Jewish Press report.
Muhammad Masoud, 23, who weighed 188 kg (415 lbs), had almost decided to go ahead with the surgery but was hesitant to make a final decision. It was only when his two sisters, Shehiva and Maysaloun, who both weighed 120 kg (265 lbs), also decided on the surgery that he made a final decision to undergo the operation.
The Masoud siblings, who live in Beit Jann, a Druze village on Mount Meron in northern Israel, are now recovering from the surgery.
Most of my work is physical, I felt I was limited and there were things I found difficult to do, Muhammad said. Its better to go through it together, its easier and we make one another stronger.
Dr. Muad Farage, director of the surgical department in Poriya Hospital, performed the surgeries.
