The levaya for the Sifrei Torah destroyed in the Nordau Street shul fire in Netanya last week took place on Monday afternoon, 29 Menachem Av 5773. Police have a suspect in custody who allegedly set the blaze intentionally.�The shul located on Nordau Street was targeted by a lone arsonist who was taken into police custody.

Damage in the blaze was extensive, including the total or partial destruction of 10 Sifrei Torah R�L.

Police acted quickly, realizing soon after the blaze that it appeared to be an arson attack. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a young male buying gasoline in a station near the shul.It appears he is also suspected of involvement in another arson attack against a shul on Zalman Schneur Street. Police add the suspect allegedly stole the tzedaka money before setting the shul ablaze.
