Chabad Cowboy Places Second In Prestigious Equestrian Competition

Sharon Hershko, a Chabad Chasid who lives in the city of Lod, came in second place in Israel’s Extreme Cowboy competition. The competition took place in Moshava Sharona and included a series of equestrian exercises to prove the prowess and skill of both the horse and the rider.

Hershko told Israeli media that “A good number of the judges and spectators kept expressing how surprised they were to see a Chassidish Avreich competing in the event and finishing at such a high podium position.”

Hershko, who is a professional horseback rider, has developed a style of riding called “sus v’Rochvo” which empowers a rider based and teaches them skills of riding based on “Toras Chassidus.”

  1. Big Kiddush Lubavitch!

Maybe he will open up Lubavitch horse academies, and can train a whole generation of Habad horse riders.

  2. A young man who was off the derech, and loved horse riding, was sent to talk to the Alter Rebbe. He asked the boy, why does he like horses so much, and the boy answered “Because they get you where you’re going much faster”.

The Rebbe agreed, but pointed out that that’s only true if you’re going in the right direction. If you made a wrong turn then the horse will get you a lot farther away from your destination, a lot faster, than if you’d been on foot.

The boy agreed that this was so, but said “Ah, but once you realize that you’re on the wrong road you can turn around and the horse will very soon get you back where you should be”. And the Rebbe replied, “Yes, indeed, once you realize that you’re on the wrong road a horse can help you return. Once you know you’re on the wrong road…” His words found their target and the boy came back. It’s not recorded whether he kept on riding horses after that…

  3. No doubt the Baal Hatanya and the BESHT are Kvelling up there.

Hope he doesn’t forget to print a Tanya while on horseback. afterall, we know that will bring Moshiach (for those who believe that he hasn’t come yet)

  4. A true Nossi will gather and care for every single yid, even the one that serves the Aibishter whilst riding horses. You have it right YWN. This is a proud Chabad Chossid. and so am I.
