Diaspora Minister: ‘No Chance Of Finding Survivors,’ IDF Says There’s Still Hope [VIDEO]

Israel’s Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai, who is in Surfside at the scene of the building collapse, told Israeli radio on Monday morning that there is “zero chance of finding anyone alive.”

“I say with regret, the chances of finding survivors is zero,” Shai told Radio 103FM. “I was in the place, it doesn’t look like anyone could survive.”

IDF Col. (Res.) Golan Vach, the head of the Israeli search and rescue mission in Surfside, is more optimistic, saying: “There is always hope,” according to an Arutz Sheva report.

Vach said he believes that survivors could be found “but the site is very complex.”

  1. He didn’t say “no chance”, he said “minimal chance”. The word in Hebrew that he used was “effasi”, which has the root of “effes”, or zero, but the term “effasi” itself does not mean zero.

  2. בטח בהם ועשה טוב.
If these tow sadly less affiliated hailg Jews can bring about some Emunah in Hashem and Bitachon in Him around to the non believer people’s of the world and thus bring Kiddush Hashem, then, by all means, go for it! Let’s show the that לית אתר פנוי מיניה (My husband repeats that passuk 15 times a day – I hope I spelled it correctly!)

  4. After the Twin Towers fell, we saw an immediate start of debris removal. There were NO excuses. We saw truck after truck removing debris. Even President Bush was seen standing atop the debris giving encouragement to the hard working rescue team. B”H there were many survivors who were pulled out from the rubble. The situation in Surfside was the exact opposite. The bureaucrats went immediately into self congratulatory mode, extolling the virtues of the HERO first responders before the first responders even lifted a finger and did diddly squat! They were preloaded with excuses. They were “concerned” and had to be “cautious” & “careful” etc etc. So 3 days later not a single piece of debris was removed from the collapse site. Whomever was still alive at the time, is now surely dead, all thanx to the ever so concerned & careful HERO first responders! The HEROES were so CONCERNED they now have blood on their hands! Such gross incompetence and negligence should be thoroughly investigated once this is all cleared up.

  5. Please do not listen to this garbage! We have an Aibishter who is Kol Yochol. He can do anything. Let us thank Hashem for the survivors, and we will praise Hashem for all the miracles He will perform. Meanwhile Nachman Shai is not G-d!

  6. The diaspora minister could have stayed in Israel to make such comments. If the Israeli delegation came to Miami, their only job is to try be as helpful and encouraging as possible. There are enough local naysayers and pessimists being skeptical.

  7. we as jews know there is no such a thing as no hope. we are not allowed to say that in fact when doctors declare someone “clinically dead” its against judiasm to pull the plug as there is still hope even if its minimal or at least looks that way. if you’ve been following the news here on ywn there is this jewish girl from the uk who the doctors wanna “pull the plug” rachmana litzlan even the courts agreed with them but the askanim are doing everything they can! even secular jewish politicians who have very little with judiasm are writing letters to the government in Britain. by us jews there is no such a thing as no hope! there is always hope! hashem can make anything should happen! as I’m writing this I’m saying this to myself. if we all had enough bitachon nothing would make us depressed. if u really belive in hashem nothing can make u down! I wish I had so much bitachon, my life would’ve been much better. may hashem help us all, klal yisroel and all of the world suffered so much the last few years may hashem help us and bring the geulah already we really can use it right now

  8. Twenty people were pulled out of the rubble of the World Trade Center, the last one 27 hours after the collapse. It’s now been five days. Nachman Shai is just telling it like it is.
