Mayor de Blasio Says He Agrees With Gov. Cuomo’s Comments Against Pro-Life Republicans

de+blasio+victoryNew York City Mayor Bill de Blasio defended Wednesday NY Governor Andrew Cuomo’s remarks on “extreme conservatives” that have become part of a growing national controversy for the relatively moderate-governing governor.

“Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives, who are right to life, pro assault weapon, anti-gay, is that who they are? Because if that is who they are, and if they are the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, Mr. Cuomo siad in an interview with The Capitol Pressroom earlier this week.

On Thursday, Mr. de Blasio, who’s attending the U.S. Conference of Mayors in DC, told reporters that Governor Cuomo was “absolutely right” when it came to conservative views on abortion and gun control. Although, he disagreed with a reporter who said Cuomo had told conservatives to leave the state.

“I agree with Governor Cuomo’s remarks,” Mr. de Blasio said. “I wouldn’t phrase it the way you did with all due respect. I interpreted his remarks to be an extremist attitude that continues the reality of violence in our communities or an extremist attitude that denies the rights of women does not represent the views of the people of New York state. We all understand there’s a right to free speech. I wouldn’t disagree with that nor would Governor Cuomo. But I think he’s saying the attitudes of the people who want to continue the status quo on guns challenge or deny a woman’s right to choose does not reflect the values of New Yorkers. So I think he was absolutely right to say what he said.”

The pro-life Chiaroscuro Foundation Group blasted the governor and mayor for vilifying a large majority of the NY public who are  opposed to abortion.

“Mayor De Blasio has followed Governor Cuomo down the unfruitful path of vilifying large swaths of the New York public who disagree with him politically. I have the same questions for Mayor De Blasio that I have for Gov. Cuomo: Which New Yorkers have no place here?,” the groups’ President Greg Pfundstein said in a statement. “Only 17% of New Yorkers favor Governor Cuomo’s and Mayor De Blasio’s extreme position allowing abortion on demand for any reason until birth. Are these the only New Yorkers who have a place in the State of New York?”

  3. Classic Liberal hypocrite! Why is it that someone who disagrees with a liberal is considered an evil person? Liberals are the most intolerant people alive! Too bad that Bill Thompson was thrown under the bus. DeBlasio’s “favorability” will quickly tank. He is starting to annoy a lot of people.
