U.S. Tested Unarmed Minuteman III Missile in May as Part of Routine Nuclear Assessment

In May, the U.S. carried out a routine test of an unarmed Minuteman III missile from California to the Marshall Islands as part of its regular land-based nuclear assessments. Tests involving submarine-launched ballistic missiles—where most U.S. warheads are stored—are much rarer.
