Officials also say Israel is assisting the United States with intelligence as the situation develops.

On the northern front, Israel maintains that civilians will not be allowed to return to areas south of the Litani River in southern Lebanon.

Additionally, Israeli assessments found that around 1,000 Hezbollah Radwan Force terrorists had amassed in southern Lebanon shortly before Hezbollah’s initial attack. Israel weighed a potential preemptive strike but ultimately did not carry it out, as Hezbollah initiated the attack first.
