Hundreds of protesters affiliated with the Peleg Yerushalmi faction shut down the main entrance to Jerusalem Wednesday evening, triggering major clashes with police and severe traffic disruptions across the area.

The demonstration was held in protest of the arrest of yeshiva bochur Nehorai Bachar, who was detained for draft evasion and sentenced to 20 days in military prison.

What began as a protest quickly escalated into violent confrontations. According to reports, several protesters attacked uniformed soldiers passing through the area, prompting one soldier to draw his personal weapon after feeling threatened.

Demonstrators also surrounded a police vehicle and reportedly attempted to overturn it while chanting protest slogans. Police declared the gathering illegal and deployed water cannons and large reinforcements, including Border Police forces, to clear the roads.

At one point, a vehicle caught in the massive traffic jam drove toward the crowd, though no injuries were reported.

Police said protesters repeatedly blocked the city’s main traffic artery, severely disrupting public order and freedom of movement. Authorities stated officers used crowd-control measures only after protesters ignored repeated orders to disperse.

The unrest follows several days of escalating tensions surrounding the arrests of chareidi draft dodgers and the recent storming of the Military Police chief’s home by extremist protesters, after which multiple arrests were made.

Organizers vowed demonstrations will continue as long as arrests and sanctions against yeshiva students persist.

  1. There is no reason that solider drew his weapon he was NOT in danger at all he’s just some whimp that is trying to intimidate everyone to show the crowd how cooool he is that he has a gun!! Psheeee he’s so cool!!! Either way he should be arrested and tried in military court for threatening civilians with a deadly weapon and he should get 5-10 years in prison imo.

  2. IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO DONT DO ANYTHING DO NOT RIOT
DO NOT CALL THE POLICE NAZIS WHOSE TO SAY THAT PEOPLE PROTESTING ARE BETTER BLOCKING TRAFFIC AND MAKING PEOPLE DELAYED
SO YOU PEOPLE WHO PROTEST ARE NOT SO GREAT

  3. There is no reason or justification to intimidate soldiers, whether frum or not!
DrAnti-Torah; yes I am equally concerned about ambulance getting through, but water cannons and stink water are just as dangerous and illegal.
I am also no less concerned about young innocent bochrim to be imprisoned, which can cause everlasting mental effect!

  4. Such chillul hashem every day in eretz yisrael, terrible to watch , why are they not sitting and learning, and dont tell me its bein hasdarim.
    derech eretz kodmah latorah

  5. DrYidd, did you recommend that water cannons and stink water be used against the Kaplan protesters who delayed ambulances? Or are you more aligned with and sypathetic to them than to chareidim?

  6. If only all these “men” were enlisted instead of sitting in front of trains and cars, the Israeli army wouldn’t have a deficit in soldiers. Imagine a faction of B’nei Yisrael doing the same during the war with Amalek. I don’t think Moshe nor Hashem would be too happy.

  7. Absolutely despicable behavior of bochurim insulting and intimidating soldiers, blocking traffic etc.
Those who send these naive and stupid bochurim to participate in blocking streets and attacking innocent people are criminals. They are already guilty of the death of Yeshiva Bochur Yosef Eisental few months ago during similar protest. Not enough for them?
And they ate guilty of Chilul Ashem that take place during those wild protests.
