Somaliland announced it will open an embassy in Jerusalem, with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar saying the move will make it the eighth embassy in Israel’s capital.

•⁠ ⁠Israel will also establish its own embassy in Hargeisa as both sides move toward expanding diplomatic ties.

•⁠ ⁠The move follows Israel’s formal recognition of Somaliland as an independent state in December 2025, becoming the first country to do so.

•⁠ ⁠Sa’ar said the embassy opening marks another major step in strengthening relations between the two countries.
