Israel Approves Roman Gofman as Next Mossad Chief Despite Renewed Scrutiny

Israel’s Senior Appointments Advisory Committee has again approved Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman as the next Mossad chief despite renewed scrutiny over a controversial 2022 intelligence operation tied to his time commanding the IDF’s 210th Division.

The review was reopened after petitions to Israel’s High Court claimed Gofman misled officials about the affair. Three committee members backed the appointment, while former Supreme Court President Asher Grunis dissented and called for further clarification.
