The IDF confirmed Tuesday that damage was caused at the Israeli Air Force’s Ramat David Airbase during Iran’s ballistic missile barrage earlier this week, though officials stressed that the base’s operational capabilities were not affected.
The acknowledgment comes after satellite imagery appeared to show damage to a warehouse structure within the strategic northern airbase.
According to preliminary findings, the damage was likely caused by fragments from an Iranian ballistic missile that fell after being intercepted by Israeli air defenses, rather than by a direct missile strike.
An Israeli military source said the object that struck the structure was believed to be shrapnel or debris from a missile intercepted during the attack.
The Israeli Air Force is continuing to investigate the incident and assess the full extent of the damage.
The military emphasized that no personnel were injured, no equipment was damaged, and flight operations at the base continued uninterrupted.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had previously claimed that it directly targeted Ramat David Airbase during one of its first waves of ballistic missile attacks against Israel. Iranian state media even released footage purporting to show missiles being launched toward Israeli targets.
Ramat David Airbase, one of the Israeli Air Force’s most important installations, played a key role in Israel’s recent operations against Iran and Hezbollah.
