Will The IDF Attack Beirut? Three Hezbollah Drones Explode Inside Israel

Drone infiltration alert sirens blared on Sunday morning in several areas of northern Israel, and the IDF reported that two drones launched by Hezbollah in Lebanon exploded in the Shlomi area of the Galil.

The IDF said that the drones fell in a military area near the border and not a civilian area. “No injuries were reported, and the incident is under investigation,” the statement said.

Army Radio correspondent Doron Kadosh disputed the IDF’s account, stating, “Look at how close it was to the homes on the yishuv [Shomi]. The IDF spokesperson is trying to brief the media as if the impact occurred in a ‘military area,’ but the footage clearly shows how close the drone came to falling inside the yishuv and harming Israeli civilians.”

Shortly before noon, another Hezbollah drone exploded in a military area inside Israel near the border, the IDF stated. No injuries were reported, Baruch Hashem.

Security cabinet member and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich responded: “The fire toward the northern yishuvim is a test of the Dahiya [Beirut] equation that the prime minister announced. I call on him to implement it decisively and forcefully and to bring down buildings in Dahiya today. We’re in critical days that will shape the region for many years. We promised security to the residents of the north, and we must deliver it.”

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said: “I will demand and clarify my position during today’s meeting with the prime minister: For every drone — a missile. For every violation — fire. For every UAV — Dahiya should shake. For every hair on the head of an IDF soldier — a thousand Hezbollah terrorists. Terror is not contained; it is defeated.”

Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said last week that “every attack on northern communities in Israel will trigger a strike in Dahiya,” the Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut.

A security cabinet source said at the time: “We have ordered the IDF to maintain the equation we set for Hezbollah, and this will be the test. If there is fire toward our yishuvim, we’ll strike Dahiya, and we’ll see what happens in Iran.”
