The terror plot targeting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House was allegedly led by an illegal immigrant who was in the United States under DACA protections, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Officials said Mexican national Abraham Alvarez was arrested by the FBI in Omaha on the day of the event, before ICE lodged a detainer against him.

According to DHS, Alvarez entered the United States as a child and remained in the country after his B-2 visa expired in 2001. He later received deportation relief through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
