Orthodox Union Hails U.S. House Resolution Condemning Anti-Semitism

ssToday, the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (OU), the nations largest Orthodox Jewish umbrella organization, applauded the United States House of Representatives for passing H.Res.707, condemning all forms of anti-Semitism and rejecting attempts to justify anti-Jewish hatred or violent attacks as an acceptable expression of disapproval or frustration over political events in the Middle East or elsewhere.

The OU commended Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) for introducing the legislation, and praised Reps. Peter Roksam (R-IL), Nita Lowey (D-NY) and Kay Granger (R-TX) for their roles as lead co-sponsors of the resolution, which passed unanimously.

Yesterday, Congress clearly stated that political protest is one thing, and anti-Semitic hate speech another, said Nathan Diament, Executive Director of the Orthodox Union Advocacy Center. This resolution speaks to the dedication of our government to fighting anti-Semitism at home and abroad. We commend the Congress for its leadership on this critical matter.
