“Death to Israel”, “Long live Palestine” and other hateful graffiti were scrawled in black paint along the synagogue wall in the eastern city of Mulhouse on Wednesday.

The synagogue�s rabbi, Elie Hayoun, has lodged a complaint at police on behalf of the Jewish community.

In the northern city of Lille, police said they had found a swastika painted near the door of the local synagogue, next to the letters ZOG – an acronym for “Zionist Occupation Government”.

The graffiti were discovered by a passer-by on Tuesday night, along with stones thrown into the synagogue compound, according Jean-Claude Komar, a leader of the local Jewish community, who has filed a legal complaint.

He blamed recent pro-Palestinian demonstrations for whipping up anti-Semitic sentiment.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced his government has a zero-tolerance policy for anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim crimes.

So you’re saying the French are anti Semitic. Yet they love Jerry Lewis. Hmmmm.
I live on and American military base about 40 min from the French border. I do a lot of my grocery shopping in Strasbourg, the nearest frum community to us. I don’t go anymore unless I REALLY need to. It’s scary out there.
We had a trip planned to Worms to see Rashi’s house and the Air Force said it wasn’t safe for us to go.
I’m very glad my home and shul are inside a fence guarded by American military police.
