State Prosecutor Moshe Lador rejects criticism that his investigation is timed two weeks ahead of the general election as an intentional move to sabotage the momentum of Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beitenu Party.
Lieberman had sharp words of criticism for the move ahead of the election, as did many of his supporters. The prosecution however stated the allegations are baseless, explaining “no time is good, not before the election, not after, not ever!”
Police allege that Lieberman was involved in money laundering and accepted bribes during his tenure as a cabinet minister (reported HERE on YWN) . Several formal aides to Lieberman were questioned by police on Monday, in addition to his daughter Michal, who complained of illness during the questioning session, prompting police to summon an ambulance.
According to Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) reports on Monday, the prosecutor’s office is armed with 2,500 documents which it obtained from Cyprus, documents which investigators state provide them with needed ammunition to move ahead in the case.
