Israel’s Reshet Bet Radio announced on Sunday morning that security around Rav Ovadia Yosef Shlita has been increased, fearing a terror plot against the Gadol HaDor.

It is not the first time that the Rav is a possible target for terrorists, with the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) in the past successfully foiling a planned assassination attempt involving an Arab delivery person from a local fruit store. The deliveryman used his access to the Rav’s Har Nof Jerusalem home to map out the location, feeding the information to others in the terror cell.

In this most recent case, it appears a 25-year-old female domestic, employed in the Rav’s home for the past months, maintains a relationship with an Arab male in eastern Jerusalem, someone with a record of “security offenses”.

When the connection between the two was realized, she was slated for dismissal but after she promised to cut ties, she was permitted to continue. Last week, it was learned that she did not cut ties with the suspect and her employment was terminated. Her replacement is from Moldavia, a woman in her 50s. A decision was also made to change all the locks on the Rav’s residence as a result of an incident that occurred between the former and current employees.

It appears the connection with the former employee and the Jerusalem Arab resident was made by police.
