Full Closure on PA Residents During Yom Kippur


idfThe IDF Spokesman announced on Monday 8 Tishrei that a closure will be placed on PA (Palestinian Authority) residents over Yom Kippur as per the decision by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon. This means PA residents will not be permitted to cross the Green Line to enter into ‘Israel proper’ with the exception of urgent and humanitarian cases.

The closure will begin on Tuesday 9 Tishrei at midnight and continue until 23:59 on motzei Yom Kippur. The closure also impacts crossing between southern Israel and Gaza.

Restrictions will be in place on Har Habayis on erev Yom Kippur. In an effort to prevent disturbances, Jerusalem Police Chief Edri announced that men under 40 will not be permitted on the holy site. There are no restrictions for women worshippers. It is also reported that many Muslim youths are sleeping on Har Habayis on Monday night to circumvent the restrictions barring persons under 40.
