HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach Shlita, who heads the Yerushalmi faction of the litvish community, released a letter to the tzibur in which he sharply attacks the cabinet decision allocating an egalitarian prayer area near the Kosel.
In his letter, Rav Auerbach draw an analogy between government efforts to draft bnei torah and the new reality at the Kosel.

Rav Auerbach calls for a relentless battle against recent gains enjoyed by the Reform Movement along with the ongoing government effort to induct bnei torah into the IDF.

I politely remind him, that had his followers voted for the religious parties last year, they would be in a stronger position now.

I agree 100% except for the analogy of drafting bnai Torah.
I would compare the egalitarian prayer area near the Kosel to allowing pigs on pallets in Israel.
You can find a heter for almost anything.
Since YWN wasn’t around 20 years ago, can someone here comment on whether R’ Shmuel’s father, R’ SZA was also very involved and vocal about politics? Of course R’ Shmuel can make his own decisions and take a different approach, but I’m curious in how his approach compares with that of his father ztz”l.
We’re in Galus period. Christians Muslims reform. The kosel the street the government…it’s all useless….
I’m so happy to hear Rabbi Auerbach speaking out on this issue! I was starting to think that Chareidim don’t understand the burning issue of the day because the Chareidi Rabbonim were quiet about this , but reading this,my trust is restored.
Hashem should give hatzlacha to those fighting the rashaim who are continuously trying undermine true Judaism and destroy the Jewish nation through assimilation.

Who came up with the term “Yerushalmi faction” anyway? Most bnei Torah in Yerushalayim also support R’ Steinman.
