The White House released President Obama’s original birth certificate Wednesday.
The surprise release follows recent and sustained remarks by businessman Donald Trump, among others, that raised doubts as to whether the president was born in the United States.
White House spokesman Jay Carney is expected to speak more about the birth certificate Wednesday morning.
In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper Monday, Trump repeated his doubts and said he had been told the certificate was “missing.”
A new CNN investigation revealed earlier this week what most analysts have been saying since the “birther” controversy erupted during the 2008 presidential campaign: Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.
While the president has made light of the controversy, the question remained political red meat for some of his critics. A recent CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll showed that nearly 75% of Americans believe Obama was definitely or probably born in the United States. More than four in 10 Republicans, however, believe he probably or definitely was not born in America.
The U.S. Constitution says only “natural born” citizens can become president – a vague clause that some members of the birther movement contend disqualifies Obama because, they insist, he was born outside the United States.
Skeptics contend, among other things, that Obama was born in his father’s home country of Kenya.

idk but that link doesnt say long form birth certificate, it says certificate of live birth. that was avail from awhile ago. nothing new.
the real question, what bad news is going to come out today that they are trying to deflect away from with this ploy?
Rocketboy, this is as real as it gets. take a look at your own. the original one they released was a computer generated copy of the records. THIS is a copy the actual original piece of paper with the typewriter information and handwritten signatures. this has not before this morning ever been released to the public. this is what everyone has been asking for and now we have it. case closed. time to move back to phillip berg’s other believeable conspiracy theories.

To me it is obvious that if he had a valid birth certificate from the start he wouldn’t have taken so long to show it. This is probably not genuine either. If he had nothing to hide, he would have produced his birth certificate from the beginning.

Until now I was on the fence. Now I believe 99.5% that he was born in Hawaii.
But why wait so long? I reckon he did this to destroy the Republican party.

Dont you agree if right away when people asked for it, just show the certificate. no, he has to go and spend millions to hide it? he could have stopped a whole ruckus. some people have strange ideas.
Perhaps it took him until now to get it. He might have been trying from the beginning.
It took so long because the issue is not hot enough or credible enough to kill his polls, but settling the matter as candidates are revving up their engines can hurt the opponents. Simple politics.
One of the world’s biggest experts in computer imagery analyzed Obama’s “certificate” and compared it to an actual one issued in Hawaii in 1964, and he found major discrepancies between the two. He blew it up at some 30000% and saw certain watermarks in the Hawaiian one that didn’t exist in Obama’s.
Also, don’t you find it mysteriously strange that just five days after his grandmother’s famous “blooper” of “I remember being at my daughter’s bedside in Kenya when she gave birth to Barak”, the not-so-old grandmother died?
I find it mysterious that someone would say that Sarah Obama (who was the person your referring to even though you garbled the story,) was dead when she isn’t. For that matter Barack Obama is 49 years old, any woman who could have been his grandmother would need to be almost 90.

Keeping it under wraps did not hurt him: the only people in a tizzy about it were people who would never, in a million years, consider voting for him. And it put a LOT of Republican politicians in a bad spot, forced to choose between questioning the President’s eligibility and insinuating that some of their constituents had lost their minds.
On the other hand, the tizzy that those people were in convinced a LOT of moderate democrats and independents that the Right had gone completely crackers, which resulted in more of them voting for him.
Pretty good strategy, all being said and done.
Now, let’s see if the Right can learn from their mistakes and not go in another frenzy about how they think it might be fake. Cause if they do that, it will have played into Obama’s hands yet again…
