I don’t think I ever posted some of my poetry here….I think it has been posted anywhere BUT the CR.
I was writing this for the Lipa contest put I didn’t make the deadline 🙁 Here it is:
from the battle
I’m just so weary
here’s a paper
on it got all my dreams
how I wanted to be right
how I wanted to win this fight
how I wanted to uphold hashem’s glory
I’m dreaming again
It’s a “what if” game
how should I live
things that I can’t explain
When the lights go out at night
I’m left alone with the monsters I fight
and I feel so weak, lost, and lonely
CHORUS:
you take my hand and show me in an instant
how it is that I’m a daughter to you
and what it means to be a jew
and you take me hand and banish the distance
it’s now so vivid and clear
that I’m standing right next to you
I close my eyes
wishing it would all melt away
keeping only the good
that from the battle I have gained
push it all into his arms
and i know he wont be alarmed
as I turn my back, walking away calmly
Foot after foot
I keep walking
I get up again and again
and I keep singing
I’ll yell out hashem’s name
I just want to connect
and burn the distance away

Just curious, this thread was pretty popular a while back. I know a couple of us are still on here, but are there any other posters in hiding? We’d love to hear from you.
I guess poetry isn’t very popular in the new generation. Shame on you!
Today when I opened my browser,
I looked at which new posts were placed
In the kosher coffee room groupthink,
To see how much time I could waste.
Minute by minute, the new words were written
Dating and politics, spider advice,
The topics so typically askew.
Being able to read into the minds
Of anonymous Jews in the velt,
I felt so connected; I hope you can see
That this poem is really heartfelt.
I love reading diverse opinions
All under the umbrella of Torah,
How cool that I have an opinion
That so many people will blame?
When someone else quotes you by name.
When only my pseudo gets noticed.
And it bothers me not the remotest.
I think that the CR creation
Is unique as a tortoiseshell rat.
I vote that it stays on until end of time
Shopping, I’m not that great at poetry myself, I was referring more to the posters themselves than the actual poetry. But I’d be happy to read some too!
