Jews who emigrated to Germany from uberland in the early 1900s would not be yekkes (IMO) anymore than German Jews who moved to Portugal after the war become Sephardim. And thank you for not jumping to conclusions like some people….

On a soapbox
A soapbox is simply a box containing soap. At some earlier point in time, speakers would stand in public on such a box full of soap so as to be seen and heard above the crowd. Why soap? I don’t know, but I assume a full box made for a better pedestal. A kashe oif a ma’aseh. Of course, today’s most common soapbox is the blog. If you say someone is “on his soapbox” it refers metaphorically to someone making a flamboyant public speech.

ICOT: I googled the term and I was told to click Fn+numlock or Shift+Fn+numlock. I tried it, it didn’t work. Then I simply pressed numlock key and presto! Its off!

I’m not trying to dis anyone/anything, but whats the purpose of standing for all the tefillos or just neilah on yom kippur? Are tefillos coming from someone with tired feet accepted faster?
