1.At which point in typing my post does the Mod know what I’m typing?

2.Does the Mod see when posters edit their posts before pressing “send post”?

3.What is an IP address? How does everyone else know all the usernames of one poster?Am I dense?(do NOT answer that one)

4.Does the Mod know poster genders?

5.Have the Mods considered my idea for an advice book based on the CR?

    1) when u press send, they get it (the message, they never get IT)

    2) what is the difference between question 1 and 2??

    3) your computers home mailing address, u might live at 123 main st, but your computer lives at 553.454.564654.564564 and ever post comes from that address. (so do emails) (last part of question 3 NO, if you don’t know what i’m talking about your dense lol)

    4) only from reading posts, if you talk girlie talk they know your gender. also see chesednames take on knowing a persons gender.

    5) NO

    Thanks.re:#5:are you a mod?

    #720532

no he is not a mod

but he has a close connection to the mods in that a great deal of his posts under this and his other screename contain at least one reference to how he doesnt like the moderation here. he doesnt usually miss a chance to say something negative.

Because Mod 80, is Mod 80 and Mod 80 only.

Most Mods don’t post comments, although they can do so if they wish.

It’s extremely childish to have multiple usernames, and only insecure people with issues do that. There are people (mainly one person) here who starts an argument, and then they need “weight” and lots of comments defending their (many times insane) positions.

Why people do that, we have yet to figure out.

Are you implying that i’m the one doing that?

I suppose if two different people send from the same ip address the mod thinks they are the same

What exactly do the mods know?

    *Haunting voice*

    eeeevvvveeeerrrryyytttthhhhiinnnggg

Mods know where you live, and what you’re wearing. They were trained working for the FBI.

Seriously though, after a while of two screen names with the same IP coming on at exactly the same time, making the same sort of comments, it probably becomes obvious.

    oooooohhh busted. 🙂

YW Editor – If some people have a “good time” using different screen names then maybe the rest of the CR should have a good time finding out how many screen names X has.

    Wha-da-ya say about that?

If two people, say a guy and his basement tenant, are using the same router, they will have the same IP address to anyone who logs them. They could each be completely unaware of each others presence. The only way to tell for sure is if the person was stupid enough to register all his sock puppets under the same email address.

“Most Mods don’t post comments, although they can do so if they wish.”

I find this comment disingenuous. Mod-80 is a highly prolific commenter. The practice of both commenting and moderating on a specific thread is a clear conflict of interest and should be disallowed. One cannot be a player and referee in the same game.

The IP address is the address of your computer given to you as you connect. Your service provider gives you an IP address. Unless you bought a permanent IP address, it will always be another one.

I have another question. Does any mod or anyone at all read the stuff that comes in from the ‘contact us’ page?

    #720555

One cannot be a player and referee in the same game.

You can if you own the ball. Or the field.

ruffruff – “Does anyone read the stuff from the contact page” I had the same question, I have sent numerous emails and was never answered.

Actually, in all fairness, your not being very honest.

We never received one email from you, now of course maybe you are using another one of your 67 different names….

YWN receives thousands of emails each day, and reads every one of them. We respond to what we feel is necessary.

You can always contact our offices at 718-305-6020.

Our office staff will always try and assist you.

Being blocked for no reason is not necessary? I really don’t know what warrants such behavior. The message says to contact the site administrator, but there isn’t even an automated acknowledgement, whatever that would be worth.

If you really want “all fairness”, address me, not him (unless you’ll start claiming that I’m him). Do you really rather phone calls over emails?

Most ISPs give static IP addresses, especially for broadband connections which are always on.

So getting back to the OP’s original question…

    1. Until you hit submit everything’s still on your computer. Once you hit “send post” it gets sent for moderation.

    2.See #1.

3.An IP address is how your internet service provider knows which computer asked for which information, and they can send the response back to the right computer.

4.It’s usually not that hard to figure out after a while 😉

    5.THAT you’d have to ask them…

“To what we feel is necessary”……

Now that is not exactly “all fairness”

    Its yeshivish logic i guess.

Ruff Ruff, although your computer is not always assigned the same IP address, it usually is the same.

“How does everyone else know all the usernames of one poster?”

Sometimes the Mods let us know, but most of the time its just a wild guess…

“There are people (mainly one person) here who starts an argument, and then they need “weight” and lots of comments defending their (many times insane) positions…”

“now of course maybe you are using another one of your 67 different names…”

Mods, would you mind posting a list of all usernames being used by this one poster?

    are any mods married?

and how much do you get paid?

    #720575

some men some women some married some not.

our pay is the satisfaction of a job well done.

and i think we get a free t-shirt or mug or something at the end of the year.

    #720577

they’re busy moderating, not posting, that is their job after all.

    and they’re shy

How does one become a Mod? Where do the Mods train? Iv’e heard of Med school but never Mod school. Are you all centrally located in a giant corporate building or are you each Moding from home? Do you Mods know the Mods from VIN? Are you Mods rivales with VIN Mods? So many questions, so little time…

    #720579

    med school? morons!

mod school rejects go to med school

we mod from moderator central a huge skyscraper located in CLASSIFIED

    VIN? never heard of it
