This is nothing new. Quite a few years ago someone I know bought a house just out of New Square and renovated it it, but New Square sort of pushed them out by buying homes and renting to nisht unzerer undesireables so it made them uncomfortable to stay there. They don’t want other Jewish elements moving near them, even though these people were very frum, just not Skver.

Basmelech1ParticipantIn Lakewood anyone who is learning in BMG is called rabbi. That doesn’t mean he can paskin, or knows everything. I suppose if someone who learned in Lakewood wants to be a pulpit rabbi, he can get smicha from his rosh yeshiva.
Basmelech1ParticipantAside from the whether or not one should own a dog or not, it seems to me that there is no problem with its eating non chometz food on Pesach. So don’t sell your dog to a goy for Pesach and feed it non chometz food. Problem solved. As for cleaning up after your dog on Shabbos – I don’t know how one can do that if there is no eruv. I personally think that dogs are smelly and I wouldn’t want to own one. Now fish are another story – they are nice quiet clean pets.

Basmelech1ParticipantI will make a platter of 15 or more ordinary regular priced fruit that I usually have , nothing exotic. (apples, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, grapes, avocado, different kinds of nuts, pomegranate, dates, dried apricot {they were on sale}, kiwi etc. ) Nothing overboard.
Basmelech1ParticipantA basic machine shouldn’t cost too much. You don’t need one with all those fancy stitches and it doesn’t have to be computerized. There are less problems if it’s not computerized. I bought my machine, maybe 20 years ago for about $169 and it has all metal parts, no plastic gears. Look for something like that. Mine is a Europro.
January 16, 2018 9:14 am at 9:14 am in reply to: Choson & Kallah Walking Together Into Wedding Hall – Jewish or Gentile? #1450646Basmelech1ParticipantI think it’s okay to walk into the hall together and then the kalla goes to the woman’s side and the chosson to the men’s side, but, I’ve seen the chosson run down through the arches, with the kalla, that the girls hold over the kalla when she comes in – and that is a big NO NO.
