many girls my year had two phones-a kosher phone for seminary so that we would all be on the plan in case of an emergency, and another kosher phone with a cheaper plan-they just bought the cheapest plan for the seminary phone. you can look around, there are discounts, and some plans are better than others… hatzlacha!

pros-meeting everyone then (if you’re lucky, you’ll be in the one seminary where they all sit down together in the airport while all the other seminaries have “meetings”) and of course, doing exercises on the plane together, not having to worry about how you’re getting to the dorm, being with a bunch of hyped up girls who won’t think you’re nuts if you start crying cuz you’re so happy, spending that nice long flight w/ pple you can talk to…

cons-meeting everyone then, being with a bunch of hyped up girls…

just do it!!! it’s really kdai!

and then later you can say-thats what you thought of me?! wow, mustve been that flight or somethign,a nd just blame all first impressions on the flight 🙂

yay! one of my favorite topics!!!!!!!!!!

soooo, as one who took almost every single class possible and still had plenty of “extra” time, i think it’s safe to say that it honestly depends on you and 1-your time management skills and 2-how quickly you work.(there was one class where some girls would finish the work before the period was up whereas others went overtime, or mefarshim sheets that took me 45 minutes and somebody else an hour and half and somebody else half an hour…)

also, depends on how you do things

as for wackiness, believe me… that is definitely NOT a concern! even studying was fun! there was the time we acted out the perek we were studying, or the time we practiced for our dinim test l’maaseh in the kitchen, or the we made up songs for every single part…

    we love bymr!

in 11th grade my class read:

Macbeth, A Separate Peace, A Tale of Two Cities, and others which i’m not remembering right now.

Rebecca is clean, as is Jane Eyre and all those others. 1984 is good as well.

Frankenstein, Twelve Angry Men, Hamlet, The Death of Ivan Ilyich, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde -my class read these in 12, but they work for 11 also… (though i can’t say i enjoyed Ivan Ilyich, it’s not terrible, just a bit boring).

and even the most depressing, boring books can be made interesting-all depends on the teacher! (gotta give mine a lot of credit-she made even ivan ilyich interesting!)

the workload is not overwhelming at all, and it’s definitely not memorizing! you’re challenged intellectually, and you do not spend your year with your nose in a book-unless that’s what you want to do, in which case go right ahead! really though, the work is quite managable-there were girls who were in almost all of the classes and they still had plenty of free time! of course, many learned on their own, and there were always diff discussions going on, but that really depends on you

nope, def not! you do not need to study on shabbos to get good marks!though, you might wanna study for parsha then, but you don’t have to. yah, several men teachers, and you can ask them pretty much anything! i really enjoyed their classes, and asked them random questions on various topics…

nanny-i don’t know about more work, it sounded pretty much the same… depends on every girl though. and also the work is different, so i’m not sure how much you can measure…
