    J. the impression i recieved from the sadigere rebbe was that he feels there is a mokoim lehistapek about the eiruv, however bottom line he feels there are too many separate kulois involved to rely on it (shishim riboi, karfifois, kula’s in lovud, etc…) however obviously a member of R’ Eherentrau’s shul etc.. can rely on it, and that there is definitely no need not to invite guests over shabbos if they carry etc…

    I recived a similar impression from rabbi eisner shlit”a

    If you close to him it is possible that he was more open with you.

    nfgo3, the infois all available on the BBC.

    You are right about the original purpose, but you are wrong that there are no such weapons. Let’s face it, it is unlikely that the CIA made such a mistake. Obviously Al Qaeda moved the weapons out of there in time.

    Obviously the price in human life is unmeasurable, that is not my point. What i was pointing out is that i once saw an editorial who critisizig the invasion claiming that it has only made things much much worse for the iraqi people, and i am pointing out that unbeleivably – despite losing close to 100,000 in the invasion and related violence, the population has grown at an unbeleivable rate.

    ROB, the things you mention are not new chumras, they are simply the way we keep old ones. Eating insects has always been forbidden.

    The mechaber clearly forbids drying one’s hands without wringing them offf first. The sevoro of derch lichluch is a tur, and is negged most rishoinim, additinally it may no longer apply as our water is sanitized and clean.

    Concerning the pictures – producing a 2d picture remains ossur according to numerous rishoinim, so it amazes me that all those who are makpid on other basic things like Rabbeinu tam z’man etc.. are not makpid on this.

    All three cases i gave are cases where MOST peole are simple not aware of the halacha.

    secular frummie;

    ends and means and all the hashkapha are way beyond me – maybe i should try and get into a seminary…

    All i was pointing out was the much critisized iraq invasion, which commntators often claim was unfair and illegal, did unltimately bring tremendous benefit to the iraqi people.

    RR, i think it machloikes between R’ pinchos Roberts shlit”a and the sadigurer Rebbe, as Rabbi robert’s children and grandchildren do not wear seperate shoes on shabbos, and the sadigurer rebbe’s children do.

    As a chossid of Rabbi roberts that you obviously are, you shouldn’t.

    Rabbi YM Friedman – for the uninitiated is the k’void kedushas sadigurer Rebbe and a member of the moietzes gedoilei hatoira.

    He learnt in fallsburg was accepted into Brisk, and learnt in ponevezh, and is a musmach of R’ meir brandsdorfer and a massive talmid chochom – besides for numerous other ma’ailos.

    He feels that there is mokom to be dan about the eiruv, but le’ma’aseh one should not carry.

    I have put his opinions about shabbos shoes on RR’s other thread.
